McDonald's Hiring Masses; Shove Pride in the Corner?

Is McDonald's hiring masses? On April 19, they plan to fill 50,000 jobs at their fast-food chains nationwide. The reasons are varied. The company aims to get rid of the image that working at a fast-food chain is for losers. Plus, it wants to help people in a struggling economy.

If you're a lawyer, an accountant or a person who lost their business, and you've been searching for a job to no avail, is McDonald's hiring masses for you? Is it time to stand up and shout "Yes, I applied for a McJob"?

"A McJob is one with career growth and endless possibilities," says McDonald's. The company is not only hiring the people who serve the hamburgers, but they're also hiring management. For some who have not been able to work in their careers due to a bad economy and job market, a job change may be in order. McDonald's has been around since 1940 and is the world's largest fast-food chain. While other restaurants come and go, McDonald's is an American institution.

And what about those people who have been searching for a job, can't find one and can barely put food on the table? McDonald's hiring masses may be the answer there, as well. When you are in dire straits, is it time to shove pride in the corner?

"Look for anything and everything," says The Simple Dollar. "The key isn't to find a great job immediately, but simply to find work that brings home an income."

  1. Great blog. The thing is if you are losing income to work becomes a mute point. If daycare and gas to get back and forth from work eat up your profits you mine as well stay home with your kids. It's not just about job creation, it's about living wage creation.
