I own my own plumbing shop and I generally really like what I do. It’s hard having to go into work on holidays and weekends sometimes but hey, you can’t really help it when nature calls! Sometimes it has everything in the world to do with people not doing a good enough job taking care of their pipes and sometimes it’s just bad luck – I try not to make people feel worse than they already do, you know? What’s the point in that. Anyway, I spend the time I’m not out on calls working on stuff for the shop. Hiring new people and looking at smallbusiness.xo.com and talking to my wife about the tax implications of certain things, you know. Anyway, I think this is exactly the profession I need to be in right now and I really appreciate being able to take some time off when I need to and generally set my own hours. There are only so many in the day and I knew early on I couldn’t spend mine stuck behind a desk!

ReplyDeleteThe Plumbing Shop installs and maintains medical gas and specialty piping systems for laboratories on campus. Maintenance of fire protection systems, swimming pools, remodeling, and installation of new plumbing systems are also responsibilities of the Plumbing Shop. Thanks a lot.
